I moved to France eight years ago, full of excitement and, honestly, very little idea what I was doing. I didn't grow up navigating French bureaucracy. I didn't know what a dossier de location was, why guarantors mattered so much, or why some landlords wanted six documents and others wanted sixteen.

I made mistakes. I sent the wrong documents. I lost apartments to other applicants because my file wasn't strong enough. I spent evenings translating rental ads and agency emails, trying to work out what was actually being asked of me.

Over time, it got easier — not because the system changed, but because I learned it. I learned what makes a rental file strong, what landlords and agencies are actually looking for, and how to communicate clearly even when French isn't your first language.

RC Consultancy exists because I kept meeting other newcomers going through exactly what I went through — capable, organised people, stuck not because they weren't ready to move to France, but because no one had explained how the process actually works. I wanted to be the person I wish I'd had.
